OVERVIEW
In 2025, Onmo introduced the ability for customers to add their credit card to Apple Pay and Google Pay. The goal was to make everyday payments easier and more secure, while clearly guiding users through the setup process.
I focused on introducing the feature in a way that felt timely, discoverable, and fully integrated into the existing app experience without disrupting core user journeys.
DISCOVERY
To understand best practice, I audited how other financial apps handle digital wallet integration, using Mobbin and hands on testing. This helped identify common user expectations, system constraints, and familiar interaction patterns.
A key insight was that while much of the flow is handled by the operating system, clarity around what happens next and where users are in the process is essential for building confidence and reducing confusion.
SOLUTION
I introduced the feature through a bottom sheet on the home screen, clearly explaining the benefit of adding the card to a digital wallet. A secondary entry point was added to Card Management, allowing users to start the process at any time.
During setup, users see a digital render of their card to reinforce recognition. Once completed, the CTA is replaced with a confirmation message, creating a clear and reassuring state change that reflects the card’s updated status.
RESULTS
The final experience made a long requested feature easy to discover and simple to complete. Clear communication and subtle state changes ensured users always understood their card’s status, without adding visual noise.
The solution aligned with familiar platform patterns, reduced setup uncertainty, and delivered tangible value to customers, strengthening trust and satisfaction with the Onmo app.
