OVERVIEW
In 2022, Azimo explored a wallet concept that would allow users to hold and spend multiple currencies using a single card, similar to other multi currency financial products on the market. Just before leaving the company, I was asked to help design the early experience for this feature.
The goal was to create a clear, intuitive way for users to manage domestic and international spending within one unified wallet.
DISCOVERY
Early thinking focused on how to introduce a complex financial concept without overwhelming users. Insights from existing Azimo users highlighted the importance of clarity, reassurance, and easy access to balances and transactions.
It was also important to align the experience with familiar mental models around cards, accounts, and currencies, while reducing friction around onboarding, verification, and day to day money management.
SOLUTION
I designed a dedicated wallet tab as the entry point, explaining the feature and guiding users through getting started. Onboarding was broken into three simple steps covering currency selection, ID verification, and confirmation of existing details.
Once the card was received, activation was handled directly in app. The wallet dashboard allowed users to view all currencies, switch between them easily, and access transactions and detailed payment information for each account.
RESULTS
Although I left Azimo before the wallet was fully built, the project provided valuable insight into how users understand and manage money across currencies. The concepts laid a strong foundation for a more intuitive, flexible financial experience.
The work deepened my understanding of financial behaviours and reinforced the importance of simplicity, transparency, and confidence when designing tools that support everyday money decisions.
